The simple argument

The BM1373 is the more advanced chip. It brings newer silicon, better efficiency potential and the kind of performance that makes the Nexus S1 10TH/s feel like a serious next-generation home miner.

But the question for a real buyer is not only which chip is newer. The better question is: how much extra hashrate do you actually get for the extra money?

Right now, the BM1373 premium is steep. If you already have, or can buy, a strong BM1370 machine and overclock it sensibly with good cooling, the value case still leans toward BM1370 for short-term home mining.

BM1373: better chip, expensive entry

The BM1373 is attractive because it pushes home miners closer to proper professional performance while staying compact. In a Nexus S1 style machine, the headline is simple: 10 trillion SHA-256 hash attempts every second.

That is serious power for a home desk, shelf or small mining corner. It is also the kind of device that makes sense for someone who wants the newest generation and is willing to pay for it.

The problem is price. If the BM1373 unit costs far more than a BM1370 machine, the buyer needs enough extra hashrate, efficiency or long-term value to justify that jump. In the short term, that is not always obvious.

BM1370: older, but still a value weapon

The BM1370 has already proved itself across Bitaxe, NerdQaxe and NerdOCTaxe style builds. It is not the newest chip, but it is widely understood, strongly supported by the home mining community and very capable when cooled properly.

A hydro BM1370 machine in the 4.8-6TH/s range gives a miner meaningful hunting power without jumping straight into the high BM1373 price bracket. Add careful overclocking, stronger cooling and stable power, and the BM1370 still has a lot of life in it.

That makes it especially interesting for miners who care about hashrate per pound spent rather than simply owning the newest hardware.

Why overclocked BM1370 can win short term

If a BM1370 miner is air-cooled poorly, the newer chip looks far more attractive. But compare the BM1373 against a properly cooled BM1370 hydro setup and the story changes.

Hydro cooling gives the BM1370 more thermal headroom. That can allow steadier clocks, stronger long-session stability and better practical hashrate from a chip that is already cheaper to enter.

In plain terms: if the BM1373 costs a lot more, but the extra performance does not scale with the extra price, the overclocked BM1370 machine can be the smarter play while prices settle.

Where BM1373 does make sense

BM1373 still has a place. If you want the newest generation, compact 10TH/s class performance and a stronger long-term efficiency story, the Nexus S1 is exciting hardware.

It also makes sense if you are building a smaller number of higher-output devices and want each miner to contribute more without collecting lots of separate units.

But if you are budget-sensitive, building gradually or trying to maximise value today, the BM1370 route remains very competitive.

Verdict

BM1373 is the better chip. BM1370 can still be the better buy.

For short-term value, an overclocked BM1370 miner with good cooling is hard to ignore. The BM1373 Nexus S1 is powerful and exciting, but its extra cost needs to come down or its performance gap needs to feel much bigger before it becomes the obvious choice for every home miner.

If you want maximum compact power and newer silicon, choose BM1373. If you want strong value, proven hardware and a machine you can tune, BM1370 still makes serious sense.

  • Choose BM1370 if value for money is the main goal.
  • Choose BM1373 if you want newer silicon and higher compact headline power.
  • Choose hydro cooling if you plan to tune, overclock or run harder for long sessions.
  • Do not judge only by chip name. Judge by total price, cooling, stability and real sustained hashrate.
